Why a roofing company publishes free advice

Every week, someone calls our Bluffton office with a question that deserves a better answer than a sales pitch. This blog is where we write those answers down.

Roofing has a trust problem, and we understand why. It’s a trade most people only deal with a few times in their lives, usually under stress — a stain spreading across the ceiling, a tropical storm two days offshore, an insurance adjuster asking questions you don’t know how to answer. When you can’t see the problem yourself and can’t easily judge the fix, you’re left taking someone’s word for it. We’d rather you take ours because we’ve earned it, not because you had no way to check.

So we publish what we know. Since 2014, Ragsdale Roofing and Innovations has repaired, replaced, and maintained roofs across Bluffton, Hilton Head Island, Okatie, Sun City, Hardeeville, Beaufort, and the greater Savannah area. Our in-house crews — never subcontractors — carry more than 25 years of combined experience up the ladder, and most of what they’ve learned isn’t secret. It’s just rarely explained. An informed homeowner catches leaks earlier, asks contractors sharper questions, and spends less over the life of a roof. That’s good for you, and honestly, it’s good for us: the easiest customer to work with is one who already understands what their roof is up against.

One promise before you read on: everything here is written for the coast we actually live on. Generic national roofing advice tends to fall apart in the Lowcountry, where salt air, punishing humidity, live-oak limbs, and a June-through-November hurricane season rewrite the rules. When we say a maintenance habit matters or a material performs well, we mean here — on marsh-front lots, under palmettos, in HOA-governed neighborhoods from Old Town Bluffton to Palmetto Bluff.
